HSA updates visitation policy

The Health Services Authority (HSA) has updated COVID-19 patient and general visitation policy as per recommendations from the COVID-19 Taskforce which are based on updated science supported by local COVID trends, and regional and international epidemiology. Changes to the policy are effective immediately.

The new visitation policy states:

Masks

The wearing of masks remains mandatory around patients with suspected or documented risk of COVID-19 infection, however no longer necessary in the HSA except in the following areas: dialysis, oncology, ICU/CCU, NICU and operating theatres.

Patients or visitors presenting with COVID-19 or flu symptoms will be asked to wear a mask.

Visitors are now allowed to visit COVID-19 patients:

A maximum of 2 visitors may be allowed at any one time.

Visitors must wear a mask provided by the hospital.

Visitors must adhere to strict hand hygiene.

Visitors are not allowed to visit any other part of the hospital after leaving the patient’s room.

Visitors may still choose to participate in video visits as an alternative.

General Visitation Policy:

Visiting Hours are 11am – 8pm daily (except for Critical Care and Paediatric Unit).

Patients are allowed (2) visitors at a time.

Visitors under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Visitors must check in and out at the main atrium information desk (A&E visitors should still use the A&E entrance). A government issued photo ID is required (eg. passport, driver’s license, voter’s card, work ID)

Visitors must follow hand hygiene guidelines.

Critical Care Unit - Visiting hours are 11am – 2pm and 4pm – 8pm. One (1) or two (2) persons may visit at a time for 15 minutes, unless special permission is granted

Paediatric Unit - Visiting hours are 8am – 8pm. Patients are allowed (2) visitors at a time. One (1) parent or guardian (over the age of 18) is allowed to remain throughout the night with the child.

Accident & Emergency Unit

One (1) or two (2) designated visitors are allowed to visit an adult patient in Accident & Emergency (A&E) for maximum 15 minutes.

Maternity

During delivery, two persons are permitted in the labour room

Surgical Unit - One (1) or two (2) persons may visit at a time for 15 minutes, unless special permission is granted
