The University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) will host its highly anticipated annual Convocation Ceremony on Thursday, October 24th, 2024, at the Sir Vassel Johnson Hall. The event, expected to be attended by esteemed guests, will mark a momentous occasion for the class of 2024.

The Honours Convocation will recognize students who have earned at least nine credits in preceding terms and have been named to the President’s List, meaning they have achieved a semester GPA of 3.75 or higher, or the Dean’s List, for those with a GPA of 3.5–3.74. Over 150 students are expected to make the list this year, demonstrating the high standard of achievement and dedication to their studies, present within students at UCCI.

Special awards will also be given to students who have achieved the highest cumulative GPA in their respective programmes.

This year’s ceremony will also be made possible thanks to the support of many Cayman businesses who continue to support UCCI students through their studies and sponsored awards for the evening.

Thanks to the invaluable support of our partners, we can provide opportunities that extend beyond the classroom. Our graduates are poised to contribute to both local and global economies, and we take pride in nurturing talent that will drive innovation and sustainability in the Cayman Islands and beyond.”

Dr. Livingston Smith, Provost and Vice Principal of Academic Affairs and Workforce Education, commented, “Our top students are stepping into the workforce at a time when having the right skills and the ability to adapt are more important than ever. UCCI is committed to getting them ready for these challenges by giving them the knowledge, practical experience, and problem-solving abilities they need to succeed. By working closely with industry leaders, we’re helping to create a future where our graduates aren’t just prepared to meet the needs of the job market but are also ready to take the lead in shaping it. We are so proud of every single student getting an award this year.”

Following Dr. Robertson’s address, the presentation of awards will commence, celebrating the achievements of students from various disciplines. The recipients of the Dean’s and President’s Lists for Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 will be recognized, applauding their dedication to academic excellence.

The evening will conclude with a special thank you to all supporting organizations that dedicate their time and resources to assist young Caymanians in their educational journeys.
