Cabinet has approved a request from the Hon Dwayne Seymour, Minister for Sustainability & Climate Resiliency and Wellness, to extend the deadline for the termination of the Integrated Solid Waste Management Systems (ISWMS) project contract until 28 February 2025.
Cabinet granted the extension on 31 December 2024. The extension grants the Government and the Dart-led consortium additional time to complete the necessary legal requirements and negotiations to exit the project agreement.
The Hon Dwayne Seymour, Minister for Sustainability & Climate Resiliency and Wellness, said: “Cabinet’s decisions to grant the extension enables Government to ensure that the exit from this agreement will be efficiently executed. The Government is committed to ensuring that the termination of the contract is mutually agreeable and we have already made significant progress in our ongoing negotiations. I thank the Cabinet for their decision to approve the extension, and we will work diligently to find solutions that deliver a timely and beneficial exit.”
The original termination notice was set for 31 October 2024 and was first extended to 31 December 2024. This marks the second extension, highlighting the Government’s commitment to achieving a comprehensive conclusion to the ISWMS project.
