Jasmine Palliative & Hospice Care will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of their annual Flag Day coin drive on March 7th and 8th. Over two days, approximately 300 volunteers will take to the streets in Grand Cayman and Cayman Brac, collecting donations to raise money for free palliative and hospice care in Cayman.
Jasmine provides free palliative support, hospice care, and bereavement services to help families facing the challenges of a serious illness. Flag Day is the non-profit’s biggest fundraiser of the year, last year raising over $130,000. “It is really inspiring to see how the community comes together to support us during Flag Day,” says Fundraising Manager, Sophie Munden. “This event wouldn’t be a success without the kindness of a huge number of people, from the volunteers who share their time, to the stores and banks who let us collect at their locations, to the corporate supporters who match donations, and of course, all the people who donate. Many of the people who participate tell us how they have felt the impact of Jasmine’s support, and it is always incredible to witness how the care we provide ripples throughout the community.”
Many collection locations have been adopted by corporate matchers, who include Carey Olsen, RBC, Nova, Seven Mile Medical Clinic, Property Cayman, Kensington, Global Captive Management, Rawlinson and Hunter, Ernst & Young, Health City Cayman Islands, and Cayman Finance. For the second year in a row, Dart will also be matching all donations collected in Camana Bay, doubling the impact of donations.
With over 300 volunteer shifts to fill, Jasmine is actively seeking community members to sign up and help make this year’s event a success. If you are interested in volunteering for Flag Day, you can sign up for a two-hour shift at jasmine.ky or email fundraising@jasmine.ky .
