Local experts come together to deliver anti-money laundering training session – specifically for employees in the real estate and development sector

FTS has announced an anti-money laundering (AML) seminar for employees in the real estate and development industry and other real estate service providers, on Tuesday 6 July 2021, 9:00am – 11:30am.

Mr. Paul Byles, Director of FTS, has worked in the compliance and risk management sector for the past 15 years. He will be speaking at the seminar, joined by the Department of Commerce and Investment’s Head of Compliance and Enforcement, Claudia Brady, well known attorney and Managing Partner of HSM, Mr. Huw Moses and Partner of HSM, Linda DaCosta.

This compliance seminar is unique in that it focuses specifically on the real estate and development sector – encouraging more effective AML risk management systems and best practices. The training is also key for service providers such as attorneys and bankers who deal with real estate transactions. The seminar features online testing which contributes towards delegates’ AML training requirements as required by Cayman Islands regulations and all participants will receive formal AML training certificates.

Mr. Byles said, “Real estate compliance encompasses every aspect of a property transactions and the regulations are evolving each year. It's everyone's responsibility to keep up with the laws that governs dealing in real estate whether you are an agent, owner/broker, banker, attorney or other staff member handling the transactions.”

Ms Claudia Brady, DCI’s Head of Compliance and Enforcement, will offer attendees insights into to the way the industry is regulated to assist them with their day to day risk management in the sector. Mr. Huw Moses & Linda DaCosta of HSM will deliver a 360 degree view on how to better manage legal risks in the real estate environment.
