1. What is the Local TVET Grant? The Local TVET Grant, provided by the Ministry of Education, aims to equip Caymanians with the necessary skills and training to secure employment or advance their careers in the technical or vocationalfield.

2. Who is eligible to apply for the local TVET grant? Caymanians who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for the grant:

• Currently employed in an industry related to the TVET programme they are applying to, intending to improve their skills or advance their career.

• Currently employed in an industry unrelated to the TVET programme they are applying to, planning to switch to a career in the technical or vocational industry.

• Unemployed and seeking employment in an industry related to the TVET program they are applying to.

3. How do I apply for the TVET grant? To apply for the TVET grant, visit the Scholarship Secretariat Unit’s website at www.moescholarships.gov.ky and complete the online Local TVET Grant Application”. You will also need to upload a copy of the following documents along with your application:

• Recent photo ID

• Birth certificate

• Proof of right to be Caymanian

• Acceptance letter from a registered TVET institution

• Character Reference

4. What must the acceptance letter contain? The acceptance letter must be typed on the institution letterhead, with the name of the applicant, the name of the programme of study, the duration of the programme of study and the costs of the programme of study clearly visible.

5. What is the application deadline? Applicants can submit their applications at any time of the year. However, decisions will be released every quarter to the applicants.

6. What is the value of the local TVET Grant? Each learner can receive a grant of up to $15,000.00 per year.

7. Can learners apply for multiple courses in one year? Yes, however, applicants must complete the previous course with a minimum C average to qualify for funding for subsequent courses.

8. Who oversees the administration of the grant? The grant is overseen by a Ministerial TVET Grants Committee

9. Are the grants directly payable to approved applicants? No, the Scholarship Secretariat distributes funding directly to TVET institutions where applicants are accepted.

10. What is covered by the grants? Funding can be applied to tuition, books and related equipment.

11. Is the grant available for overseas TVET study? No, grants are only available for study at local TVET institutions registered and in good standing with the Education Council.

12. Can the grant support all full-time local degree TVET programmes and courses? No, grant funding is only available for courses with a duration of 18 months or less offered by a registered private institution.

13. Where can I find a list of registered TVET institutions? A list of registered TVET institutions is available on the Ministry of Education website at www.gov.ky/education .
