Minister of Education supports UCCI Students during New Student Orientation and Registration Week

UCCI opened its doors to New Students for the fall semester on August 23, 2019. Kicking off a week of Orientation and Registration activities. The Hon Julianna, O’ Connor- Connolly, Minister of Education, Youth, Sports, Agriculture and Lands, attended the session and was able to generously gift ten students with CI$250.00 vouchers towards their tuition.

This monetary surprise was welcomed by students as this year’s orientation celebrates UCCI’s one-stop shop. This new endevour allows students to register for classes, receive advising support and be ready for the start of the new semester after visiting one location.

Dr Stacy McAfee, president and CEO of UCCI stated, “UCCI is reinventing how we advise, register, orient and engage students to ensure that they thrive and enjoy a rich university experience in class and through various co-curricular activities.”

The purpose of New Student Orientation (NSO) is to prepare students to successfully transition to college. New or returning students were able to get information about the goals, mission, policies, admission requirements and programmes of study available at UCCI. NSO also allowed students to become familiar with their new surroundings by attending sessions with Alumni, and campus tours lead by the Student Representative Council Students.

A small open campus event was also held in the afternoon of NSO to allow students the opportunity to interact with professors in their chosen departments.

As a part of the festivities, students were treated to a Career Fair hosted by the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman which was held on campus on August 27th and 28th. Students and Alumni were able to look at opportunities to further their careers while continuing their education.

If you are interested in starting your success story at UCCI, students are encouraged to visit the Sir Vassel Johnson hall until August 30th to register for classes being offered in the fall semester.
