Miss Teen Cayman Receives Scholarship from Ministry of Education, Youth, Agriculture and Lands (MEYSAL)

Last Wednesday (29 January), Miss Teen Cayman, 17-year old, Ashley Gooden received a four-year scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports, Agriculture and Lands (MEYSAL).

The scholarship which is valued at $54,000 will cover two years of local study and two years of study at an overseas university of Ashley’s choice.

“The Ministry of EYSAL provides this scholarship to Miss Teen Cayman annually with hopes of providing pageant winners with the opportunity to excel academically,” noted Scholarship Administrator Dr Nicole Thompson.

Ashley expressed her appreciation to the Ministry for the scholarship. “I am truly grateful to the Ministry of Education for providing me with this opportunity to continue to further my studies without the added financial burden,” Ashley noted.

Ashley is currently pursuing an Associate’s degree in Primary Education at the University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) and hopes to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Primary Education and Child Psychology in the UK upon completion of her studies at UCCI.
