Multiple Robberies in George Town

Yesterday, 14 February, officers responded to multiple robbery incidents involving a group of masked men. These incidents are currently under investigation.

Shortly before 8:20PM officers responded to a report of a robbery at a barber shop on Eastern Avenue, near the intersection with School Road. It was reported that masked men entered the location, brandishing machetes and demanded cash from the occupants there. They fled the location with a quantity of cash and personal items, travelling in a small vehicle. One man received a minor injury during the incident, which did not require medical attention.

At about 8:40PM officers responded to a report of a robbery at a convenience store on Prospect Drive. It was reported that three masked men with machetes, entered the location and demanded cash. The men stole a quantity of cash from the register and then fled the location. One man at the location was struck by a machete and received minor injuries. He was treated on the scene by EMS personnel.

Additionally, at about 7:25PM, officers responded to a report of an attempted robbery and wounding at an address on Holmes Turn, George Town. It was reported that a group of masked men with machetes had attended the location in a vehicle, and attacked a man there. They then ransacked the yard before leaving the location. The man received injuries to his hand and arm and attended the Cayman Islands Hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged.

These incidents are currently under investigation by George Town CID. Anyone with any information is asked to contact 949-4222.
