New Tennis Coach for The Cayman Islands Tennis Club

The Cayman Islands Tennis Club has welcomed Noah Capetta as their newest tennis coach.

Noah has lived most of his life in Maine, USA, where he grew up as a multi-sport athlete skiing, doing gymnastics, and playing baseball, basketball and table tennis.

He didn’t discover tennis until the age of 16 but quickly became obsessed and played every chance he had when there wasn’t snow on the ground.

After high school, Noah began working at an indoor tennis club where he could play year-round and began competing in tournaments and USTA leagues, as well as starting his coaching and teaching career.

In a few short years, he went from a USTA 3.0 to 5.0 and was ranked #1 in New England in Men’s Open Doubles.

At 24, Noah moved to the coastal town of Camden, where he met his wife, Kathleen, and began teaching tennis full time at Midcoast Recreation Center and, shortly thereafter, coaching the Camden Hills Boys Varsity tennis team as well.

After serving 2 terms on the Maine Tennis Association Board of Directors and acting as Junior Team Tennis League Coordinator, Noah began focusing on high school coaching, where he lead his team to 5 straight regional titles and 2 state championships and amassed a 73-7 record.

Noah’s ability to work with players of all ages and abilities, from pure beginners to Division 1 college athletes, has earned him numerous professional awards, including 2 time recipient of the state’s Jr Development Award (2014, 2018), 2 time Maine High School Coach of the Year (2017 & 2018), and Adult Sportsperson of the Year (2018).

Noah holds multiple certifications from the USPTR and USPPR and is dedicated to staying current with modern teaching methodology.

Best match he saw in person was watching Juan Martin Del Potro crush Rafael Nadal at the semi-finals of the 2009 US Open, 6-2, 6-2, 6-2.

Eva Jacques, President of the Cayman Islands Tennis Club, says; “We are delighted to have Noah join the team at CITC! Our goal with each new hire is to raise the bar at the club by giving our members and tennis enthusiasts more options to learn the great sport of tennis! We are continuously investing and developing all aspects of the club to attract more members! Noah's community mindedness along with his experience and coaching qualifications is refreshing and we are looking to him to help build programs to get tennis to more kids in Cayman! We also hope to develop more adult programs at the club with Noah's assistance!”

Noah says; “The thing I love most about tennis is the people I’ve met through playing and teaching. We are an eclectic, international, and diverse community who are connected by this game we love.”

Noah is also a certified pickleball instructor and 5.0 pickleball player and hopes to help grow pickleball at CITC and in the Cayman Islands.

When he’s not on the tennis court, Noah can be found singing and playing his guitar and spending time with his wife, Kathleen, his daughter Ella, and sons Graeme and Reid, who all love tennis, too!
