The RCIPS is aware of social media posts circulating demonstrating criminal activity and anti-social issues at Seven Mile Pubic Beach.
On Thursday officers attended Public Beach and arrested two men for drugs offences. RCIPS will continue to work with our partners, including Public Lands Commission and the Department of Commerce and Investment to support public safety and crime prevention initiatives, including conducting regular patrols to provide public reassurance.
Around 12.20PM, Thursday 19 December, police responded to a report of a quantity of drugs located at Public Beach.
On arriving at the scene a suspicious individual was identified by police and approached. On attempting a search of his person, the man fled the scene, and a foot pursuit ensued. Officers soon caught the man, and drugs and a quantity of money was found in a bag in his possession, which was seized by police. The man, a 19-year-old of North Side was arrested for drug related offences and was transported to the Cayman Islands Detention Centre.
Soon after, around 1:00PM, the same day, police received information pertaining to an individual selling drugs and liquor at one of the cabanas at Public Beach.
Officers approached the location and proceeded to conduct a search of the individual and recovered a quantity of ganja and money, resulting in his arrest on Suspicion of Possession and Consumption of Ganja. The 29-year-old man who resides in Bodden Town, was transported to the Cayman Islands Detention Centre.
