Proactive Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrests and Burglary Charge

At about 3:45AM on Thursday, 21 November, officers conducting proactive burglary patrols in George Town had cause to stop a vehicle with five occupants which was travelling along Grescott Lane. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and its occupants and recovered a large quantity of cash and a bag containing suspected ganja, along with drug paraphernalia and a machete.

All five occupants, three men ages 19, 22 and 24 of George Town, one man age 25 of Bodden Town, and a woman age 32 of George Town, were arrested on suspicion of possession of consumption of ganja and possession of ganja with intent to supply.

The 22-year-old man has since been formally charged with Burglary and Destruction of Property, in relation to a burglary which took place at a business on Portland Road on Thursday, 14 November.

He appears in court on Monday, 25 November.

RCIPS officers have been conducting increased burglary patrols in targeted areas, in response to a rise in the number of commercial burglaries in recent weeks.
