High energy costs and the urgent need for sustainable environmental practices led to the development and implementation of The Residential Buildings Energy Efficiency Programme in the Cayman Islands.
The initiative which helps low-income households reduce energy costs while promoting resilience and environmental stewardship. It is led by the Cayman Islands Ministry of Sustainability & Climate Resiliency and Wellness; in collaboration with RESEMBID, the European Union and Expertise France. It addresses energy inefficiencies in low-income households, promoted sustainability and resilience plus reduced economic strain.
By installing energy-efficient technologies, providing training, and involving local businesses in home retrofitting, the Programme not only eases financial strain but also empowers communities to embrace sustainable living. Its achievements go beyond immediate energy savings, fostering long-term behavioral change and inspiring a culture of sustainability.
