The ruling Progressive National Party (PNP) has retained power in the Turks and Caicos Islands with another resounding win in consecutive elections.

Seventy-five-year-old Premier Charles Washington Misick led his party to victory on Friday, February 7th 2025 again trouncing the main opposition People’s Democratic Movement(PDM).

The PNP won 16 of the 19 seats at stake. It also won seven of the 10 local constituencies and all of the nine At-Large seats.

Of the other three seats, two were won by the PDM which had last formed the government from 2016 to 2021. The other seat went to the PDA The Progressive Democratic Alliance (PDA).

In the last election in 2021 for the then 15-seat House of Assembly the PNP had won all but one seat. Premier Washington is a former chief minister of the Turks and Caicos Islands and was Leader of the Opposition when he navigated his party back to office in 2021.

In a victory address, he said: “On this journey, we will have great successes together, and we will continue the economic and social transformation of these islands. No journey is without bumps and setbacks. You won’t always agree with the decisions we make but I will always be honest with you about why we make certain decisions and the challenges we face.”
