The Ministry of Education (MOE) and Department of Education Services (DES) announce that all government schools and the University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) will reopen on Wednesday, September 25. This decision follows the discontinuation of the Tropical Storm Warning for Grand Cayman and consultations with Hazard Management Cayman Islands.
Private educational institutions will advise parents of their own reopening arrangements.
The MOE and DES recognise that certain areas may be experiencing flooding, which could impact transportation and student drop-off. As a precaution, bus drivers will assess the situation and, where it is deemed unsafe to drop off students (especially younger children) with no one present to receive them, the children will be returned to their respective schools.
Parents and guardians are kindly requested to support the bus drop-off process by being present, if possible, to receive their child or ward off the bus.
