Spacation finally opens its doors

Lockdown has definitely left people looking for a bit of pampering, so a new hair and beauty spa called Spacation is a timely business venture, located at 455 West Bay Road, on the ground floor of Locale Hotel.

Owner Raj said the venture has actually been in the works since about 2017, but there were delays with the hotel itself being able to open, so things got postponed. Spacation opened its doors on 9th March 2020, the same day of the huge fire at the dump, Raj recalled. Just a few weeks later Corona caused island-wide lockdown of businesses such as spas and hair salons. The road to opening has therefore been anything but smooth.

Now, the group of beauticians are finally able to welcome customers after a succession of stops and starts.

“We are lucky to have a group of friendly staff who you can get along with like your own friends,” Raj confirmed. “For an added bonus, they each know at least one other language, including Serbian, Spanish, Hindi and Tagalog.”

Raj said his team were a fun loving bunch who supported each other and contributed to sustaining a pleasant and positive energy at the Spa. The team of beauty professionals includes Maja, a beauty and massage therapist, Sandra, a massage therapist, Melita, a hairstylist and beauty therapist specialising in threading, waxing and nails, Andrew who is a hairstylist and Fredelyn, a nail therapist and hairstylist.

“We offer hair, nails and massage services, as well as body scrubs, waxing and threading. We use the Germaine de Capuccinifacial product line from Spain which brings more than 50 years of experience in expert skin care,” he explained.

In this current climate, health and safety is of paramount importance and Raj confirmed that they placed their customers’ health at the top of their priority list.

“Our Spa/Salon is equipped with an air renewal system which constantly brings in fresh air,” he stated. “A commercial grade extractor fan is also in place to get rid of any harmful chemical odours in the salon/spa. In addition, air filters are in place to catch any dust created from nail filing/grinding.”

Raj said the team was excited to offer clients some particularly impressive products.

“Our salon uses Peter Millard’s colour accurate lighting. This technology gives amazingly clear, clean light. It highlights the complex colours of the hair we are working on and the colour we are applying, which ensures that great colour results are achieved.”

Another unique selling point for the Spa is the fact that clients can book up a treatment any time.
