Speakers letter Re HM The Queen

The Right Honourable Speaker, Sir Lindsay Hoyle MP

Speaker’s Office

House of Commons

Parliament of the United Kingdom

London.

Dear Rt Hon Speaker,

It is with deep sadness and grief that I write you as the Speaker, on behalf of the Representatives and as the Speaker of the House of Parliament of the Cayman Islands.

We are shaken and traumatized to hear of the passing of Her Majesty, The Queen Elizabeth II. It was shocking and riveting when we read the Buckingham Palace’s statement confirming her death at age 96 at Balmoral.

Her Majesty assumed the helm of the Monarch at age 25 and she grew, matured and shaped the Monarch with distinction. The Monarchy and people of the United Kingdom have gained the confidence and trust of the world during her reign. She personified unity and have impacted the world profoundly. Her energy and humanitarian spirit have contributed to the success of the Commonwealth. The Queen established great bond not only within the Commonwealth, but globally. She demonstrated what represents continuity and governing with passion and a heart. She was the symbol of loyalty and sense of service. She ruled with humility and made historic and landmark achievements. Her reign was unprecedented as she ruled with greatest dignity and deep respect.

The Queen was the pivotal figure and exceptional leader with a sense of purpose. Her presence, affection and love was deep and widespread. She was dutiful and remained steadfast. We are saddened as representatives and parliamentarians. She will be etched unparalleled in the annals of history as she was inspirational to the world during the most difficult times. She served honorably and dignifiedly.

We express sincere condolences to the bereaving King Charles III and the Queen Consort at this time and to the Monarch. King Charles the III now has an awesome responsibility to be equally wise.

Personally, I met and had several interactions with this iconic lady. Obviously, this is the passage of a remarkable and astounding era. She was highly respectful of the Overseas Territories and always exhibit a caring concern for people, especially remembering those she had met. Our sentiments are expressed to the bereaving family and the parliamentary community of this highly respected and longest serving Queen.

Please accept on behalf of the Parliament of the Cayman Islands our sincere and heartfelt condolences for the loss of Her Majesty, The Queen Elizabeth II.
