The University College of the Cayman Islands (UCCI) has today announced the news that it has been awarded a four-year reaccreditation by the Accreditation Service for International Colleges (ASIC). ASIC is a UK based independent body that accredits colleges and universities globally for quality in different areas of operation.

ASIC noted that UCCI has “many areas of strength and good practice” and many areas of operation were identified as “ commendable” including governance and management, quality assurance and marketing and recruitment.

ASIC accreditation helps students and parents make a more informed choice and will also help a school, college, university, training provider or distance education provider, demonstrate to the international student body that they are a high quality institution.

ASIC is recognised by UKVI in UK and is a full member of The International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE), is a member of the BQF (British Quality Foundation) and are institutional members of EDEN (European Distance and E-Learning Network).

President and Chief Executive Officer of UCCI, Dr. Robert Robertson said, “We are delighted with these positive results from ASIC. These results reflect the efforts of everyone at UCCI to build a high quality, globally competitive tertiary institution. In particular, the Acting Provost & Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr Geneve Phillip-Durham was instrumental in directing the accreditation efforts and each and every member of staff at UCCI has played a part in making it the world-class institution it is today.”

UCCI has strategically partnered with other academic institutions and private sector organizations to offer a wider range of courses and programmes that position graduates to be workforce ready. These initiatives include more flexible course delivery options and a range of industry recognized certifications to supplement the traditional courses and programs.

The full report will be reviewed and used as a key part of a continuous improvement plan to assist in advancing UCCI to the next level.
